The Trek Checkpoint is Trek's do-it-all gravel bike: dirt roads, broken tarmac, trips with panniers and racing. The range is split into two families, aluminium ALR and carbon SL, and within each one what changes is the groupset, brakes and wheels. All of them run 42 mm tyres and a carbon fork.

Checkpoint ALR or SL: aluminium or carbon
The ALR models share a tough aluminium frame with mounts for a rack, mudguards and bags. The SL models move to OCLV 500 carbon with IsoSpeed, Trek's vibration-absorbing system, and add a storage compartment inside the down tube. The weight difference between the ALR 5 and the SL 5 AXS is around 370 g; what you notice most on the road is the comfort of IsoSpeed and the electronic shifting.
Trek Checkpoint ALR 3: the entry to the range
The Checkpoint ALR 3 has 10-speed Shimano CUES and is the only one with mechanical disc brakes, enough for relaxed rides and everyday use.
Trek Checkpoint ALR 4: the most balanced ALR
The Checkpoint ALR 4 moves to hydraulic brakes and 11 speeds, with a lower gear for climbing.
Trek Checkpoint ALR 5: aluminium for riding a lot
The Checkpoint ALR 5 has 12-speed SRAM Apex and Tubeless Ready tyres, and weighs half a kilo less than the ALR 4. It is the ALR for riders who cover a lot of kilometres and don't want to make the jump to carbon.
Trek Checkpoint SL 5 AXS: the entry to carbon
The Checkpoint SL 5 AXS introduces the carbon frame with IsoSpeed and SRAM Apex AXS wireless electronic shifting.
Trek Checkpoint SL 6 AXS: 13 speeds
The Checkpoint SL 6 AXS steps up to 13-speed SRAM Rival XPLR AXS, with a wider 10-46 cassette, and wider rims.
Trek Checkpoint SL 7 AXS: the lightest
The Checkpoint SL 7 AXS has SRAM Force XPLR AXS and Bontrager Aeolus Elite 35V carbon wheels. It is the option for racing or for anyone who wants the best build.
