The Trek Powerfly is Trek's most versatile electric mountain bike: it works for rides on gravel tracks and trails, for climbing mountain passes without stress and, in the Equipped versions, for everyday use too. All of them have a Bosch Performance Line CX motor and a removable 600 or 800 Wh Bosch PowerTube battery, integrated into an Alpha Platinum aluminium frame. 29" wheels (27.5" on size S). The first decision is whether you want a hardtail, the Powerfly+ Gen 5, or full suspension, the Powerfly FS+ Gen 4.

Hardtail or full suspension

The Powerfly+ hardtail is lighter, cheaper and needs almost no rear suspension maintenance. It is ideal for gravel tracks, paths and easy trails. The full-suspension Powerfly FS+ grips better on technical climbs, soaks up rocks and roots and is less tiring on long trail rides. If you are going to ride rough technical trails, choose the FS+.

600 or 800 Wh: how much battery do you need?

The motor is the same across the range, so the assistance doesn't change. What changes is the range: the 800 Wh battery gives you around a third more distance than the 600 Wh battery with the same use. If you do long rides, lots of climbing or often use the higher assistance modes, the 800 Wh is worth it. That is why the Powerfly+ 4 800 Wh exists: the same build as the Powerfly+ 4 with the big battery.

Trek Powerfly+ 4: the entry point

The Powerfly+ 4 Gen 5 has an SR Suntour XCR 34 air fork, a 10-speed Shimano CUES drivetrain with an 11-48 cassette and Tektro hydraulic brakes with 203 mm rotors. It is the most affordable way to get a Trek electric mountain bike with a Bosch CX motor.

Trek Powerfly+ 4 Equipped: for everyday use

The Powerfly+ 4 Equipped Gen 5 is the Powerfly+ 4 ready for commuting to work and heading to the mountains at the weekend: it adds Supernova lights, mudguards, a MIK-compatible rear rack and Bontrager LT4 tyres with a reflective strip. It is also available with an 800 Wh battery: the Powerfly+ 4 Equipped 800 Wh.

Trek Powerfly+ 6 and 8: high-end hardtails

The Powerfly+ 6 Gen 5 steps up to an 800 Wh battery, a RockShox Recon fork, a 12-speed Shimano drivetrain with a 10-51 cassette, 4-piston Shimano brakes and a dropper post. The Powerfly+ 8 Gen 5 adds a Fox fork, Shimano XT shifting and 2.60" Tubeless Ready Bontrager Gunnisson Pro tyres, for more grip and more comfort.

Trek Powerfly FS+ 4: full suspension at the best price

The Powerfly FS+ 4 Gen 4 is the most affordable full-suspension bike in the range: a 130 mm RockShox Recon Silver fork, a RockShox Deluxe shock, 4-piston Tektro brakes, a dropper post and a 600 Wh battery. The Powerfly FS 4 Equipped Gen 4 has the same base with lights, mudguards and a rack. And if you want more range, the Powerfly+ FS 4 Equipped 800 Wh Gen 4 has the 800 Wh battery, a RockShox Recon Silver fork, Tektro hydraulic brakes, a TranzX dropper post and a kickstand.

Trek Powerfly FS+ 6 and 8: more suspension and a big battery

The Powerfly FS+ 6 Gen 4 moves to Fox suspension, a 12-speed Shimano drivetrain, 4-piston Shimano brakes and an 800 Wh battery. The Powerfly FS+ 8 Gen 4 is the top of the range: a Fox Rhythm 36 fork, SRAM GX Eagle AXS T-Type wireless electronic shifting and SRAM DB8 brakes.
