The FX is Trek's bike for the city, leisure rides and getting fit. All three versions share the Alpha Gold aluminium frame, with rack and mudguard mounts, and 35 mm tyres. The fork, drivetrain and brakes change.
| Version | Fork | Drivetrain | Brakes |
|---|---|---|---|
| FX 1 | Steel | Shimano Acera, 2x8-speed | Tektro mechanical |
| FX 2 | Aluminium | Shimano CUES, 1x9-speed | Tektro, 160 mm rotor |
| FX 3 | Carbon | Shimano CUES, 1x10-speed | Shimano hydraulic |
Which one to choose
FX 1 for getting around town and relaxed rides. FX 2 if you prefer a single chainring, simpler to use and maintain. FX 3 if you'll ride longer distances: the carbon fork absorbs vibration better and the hydraulic brakes stop with less effort.
Stepover or Midstep frame
Each version comes with a high top tube (Stepover) and a low top tube (Midstep), easier to get on and off. The links in the table go to the Stepover.
